Executive Director

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a leader who is passionate about the future of the arts in Vermont. While the Vermont Dance Alliance has established programming, community events, and fundraisers, the organization is nimble and adaptable to new ideas and initiatives, with the support of the Board of the Directors. 

The Executive Director will work with the Board of Directors to realize the organization’s mission, steward the organization’s financial viability, serve the VDA membership, and oversee the annual programming, community outreach, and operations. 

To fulfill these goals, the Executive Director will:

  • Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization, through fundraising, grant writing, acquiring sponsors, managing donor relations & maintaining our fiscal sponsorship program

  • Work with interns and community volunteers on programming, development, and membership committees 

  • Plan and execute VDA’s annual events in coordination with programming committee volunteers

  • Enhance member and community engagement through creating community connections, attending network events and meetings, and initiating and producing effective collaborations

  • Create an effective communications strategy including email, direct mail, the website, and social media

  • Represent VDA to the public

  • Work with the board to create and implement a strategic plan and annual budget

  • Work with accountant for bookkeeping and tax & legal compliance

  • Produce quarterly and annual financial reports 

  • Manage day-to-day operations 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a creative thinker

  • Have high-level communication skills

  • Have a passion for our mission to expand the visibility and accessibility of dance in Vermont and bolster the creative economy of the state

  • Feel comfortable utilizing software platforms such as website builders, grant management databases, and email platforms

  • Have some familiarity with Quickbooks and/or budgeting experience

  • Be able and ready to: do community organizing, network with arts and culture leaders across the state, collaborate across the creative sector

  • Have a successful track record of fundraising, including writing and management of grants; finding and meeting with donors; and managing membership systems

  • Have an understanding of the arts culture throughout the state of Vermont

  • Have experience managing volunteers

Details: 

  • Part-time, 10 hours/week

  • Salary $10,000 per year

  • Start date July 1, 2025
